Therapy Services

Areas of practice

I can assess and treat a broad spectrum of mental health concerns including (but not limited to): trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship problems, sexual concerns, and problem behaviour patterns (e.g. substance use, violent behaviours, etc.).

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, depending on your individual needs, including:

·       Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

·       Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)

·       Schema Therapy

·       Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

·       Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I work with those aged 17 years and above.

The therapy process

Our initial session will begin to explore what has brought you to therapy. It’s okay if you are not quite sure how to explain what has been going on, I will guide you through this. We will start to build insight into what underlies your concerns and deepen on this over the course of therapy.

As a clinical psychologist my role is to:

  • Provide you a framework for understanding your concerns and their origins (this can include diagnosis if you would like);

  • Challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs/ offer new ways of thinking;

  • Support you to make room for painful emotions;

  • Support behaviour change;

  • Be collaborative and non-judgemental.

The change process is non-linear; it’s normal to have ups and downs, breakthroughs and set-backs as therapy progresses.

Therapy is most effective when attendance is regular- ideally this would be weekly however we can discuss this at your initial session, along with expectations about how many sessions you may need.

Pricing
